DocBox AI is a desktop application that runs on your computer to help you organize, search, and ask questions about your own documents. docboxhub.com is the website where we tell you about it and where you download it.

Both the app and the site are provided free of charge. There's no subscription, no account, and no data collection — see Privacy below for details.

You can use DocBox AIfor personal or commercial purposes, free of charge. You don't need a license, an account, or our permission.

A few simple ground rules:

• Don't redistribute the installer or charge people for it. If someone wants the app, send them to docboxhub.com.
• Don't reverse-engineer, decompile, or modify the application binaries. You're welcome to inspect the data the app stores in its local folder.
• Don't use the DocBox AI name or logo to suggest endorsement, partnership, or affiliation.

If you bring your own cloud AI keys (Gemini, Claude, OpenRouter, etc.), those providers' terms apply to your usage with them. We're not a party to that relationship.

We try to collect nothing. Here's the specific breakdown.

On docboxhub.com

• No analytics, no tracking pixels, no third-party scripts.
• No cookies. The site stores your light/dark theme preference in your browser's local storage — only readable by your browser, never sent anywhere.
• The contact form posts your message to a third-party form service (FormSubmit) that forwards it to us as email. We don't store submissions in a database.

In the DocBox AI desktop app

• Your documents stay on your machine. The app never moves, copies, or uploads your files.
• In Local mode (Ollama), nothing leaves your machine.
• In Cloud or Hybrid mode, the chat content and embeddings you opt into are sent directly to the cloud provider you configured. We never see them.
• On Windows, the app makes one optional outbound request per launch: a version check to docboxhub.com. It contains no identifiers and can be turned off in Settings → Privacy.
• Your API keys are stored in your operating system's keychain (Windows Credential Manager / macOS Keychain), never in a plain-text file.

DocBox AI is provided as-is, with no warranty of any kind — express or implied. We don't guarantee that the app will be bug-free, available, accurate, or fit for any particular purpose.

The information DocBox AI shows you — extracted facts, deadlines, citations, AI-generated answers — can be wrong. You are responsible for verifying anything you act on. If DocBox AItells you your lease expires August 31 and you act on that without opening the actual lease, that's on you, not us.

DocBox AI can read contracts, tax returns, medical records, and other sensitive documents. It is not a lawyer, accountant, doctor, financial advisor, or any kind of licensed professional. Information it surfaces is for your convenience — not a substitute for qualified human advice.

If a deadline matters, confirm it. If a tax number matters, double-check it. If your health is involved, talk to a doctor.

We may update these terms occasionally — to clarify wording, reflect new features, or address legal developments. The current version always lives at this URL with a Last updated date at the top. Material changes will be mentioned in the next app release notes.

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada, and any disputes will be heard in Ontario courts. If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still applies.
